Lebanon
In Beirut, Lebanon, we have been working with the local Tahaddi Community Centre in the Hay el Gharbeh quarter since 2017, supporting its efforts to provide humanitarian aid and education for children and adolescents. In addition, in autumn and winter 2024, we had been providing humanitarian aid to internally displaced people who have had to flee their homes in the south of the country.
Thanks to the funds of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic and donations from individual donors including our Lenten collection, we have been providing food and material aid, education and medical care for those who are in the most need, Syrian refugees and vulnerable Lebanese and stateless families in Beirut, Lebanon for several years.
We provide food in the form of vouchers, baby diapers or formula, basic household equipment, such as blankets, heating, low-cost washing machines, cookers and refrigerators. We fund the running of a kindergarten, a sewing workshop for women and, most importantly, an education centre for approximately young students who receive basic education in Arabic, maths, English, IT and science, as well as learning a trade in an equipped carpentry and sewing workshop.
We also support the running of a community health centre which provides primary care and prevention.
